Week of Feb 24th: Alpha Beta Gamma Cuck
I took some time off. Leave it.

I’ve decided to come back to the newsletter because I don’t want to update my website anymore. To be honest, I didn’t find it rewarding (read: I totally forgot about it). I’m using Beehiiv because it’s not Substack.
HBon mot of the week:
"Admin-approved endorsements of commercial products are agreement." - Deleted comment. Snnkt
All about the (Walter) Benjamins:
I received a series of strange emails from my student loan provider over the course of twenty four hours that seemed to contradict each other. I think like all witnesses watching a man juggling multiple chainsaws, I decided to step back and wait to see what the website said in the morning. Then, I couldn't access it. So, I think what happened is my deferment was cancelled due to being on LOA this semester (which I knew would happen) and my first payment is due next month (which was a surprise, but not a problem). I am starting to question my insistence that I leave the government loans with the government, but since every goddamn thing in the world is a moving target right now, I'll just open up a special checking account just for this payment and pour salt around the whole house. It's one of the only ways to be sure.
Postscript: I made my first loan payment on the 1st. (҂◡_◡) ᕤ
Wisdom of the week:
Links of the past week:
I was determined to figure out how long I've been playing Minecraft and I remembered that it was after reading Chuck Wendig's blog post about it. January 2011 - holy shit.
Got into a tiny bit of trouble in the "Wide for the Win" Facebook group and got my comment deleted. Then I just trolled. Seriously tired of the self-pub industrial complex. I feel like there's a fine line between helpful authors selling their advice to their peers and grifters doing the self-publishing thing long enough to "build a course" and "derive passive income."
COVID was bad and whatever comes next is going to be badder. I'm not linking to the original NYTimes article because fuck them, [but here's Jason Kottke's excerpt and comment](https://kottke.org/25/02/covid-alarmists-closer-to-the-truth. That's good enough for me.
"It brings me joy to remember Scarborough looking befuddled as to why this had somehow become a part of his show." David Zirin's discussion of the ideological collapse of MSNBC is definitely worth your time.
